In communities across Cuba, where daily access to food has become increasingly uncertain, Pan de Vida is doing something both simple and profound: showing up.
Pan de Vida is a grassroots initiative dedicated to providing meals, support, and care to those most in need - particularly the elderly, families in crisis, and children living on the margins of an already strained system.
Through local networks and direct distribution, Pan de Vida:
Prepares and delivers meals to vulnerable individuals
Identifies those most in need within their communities
Provides basic necessities when available
Maintains consistent, relationship-based support
This is not one-time aid. It is ongoing care.
Led From Within
Delivered to the People Who Need it Most
Cuba is facing one of its most difficult economic periods in decades.
Food shortages, inflation, and limited access to basic goods have made daily life increasingly challenging - especially for those without family support or access to outside resources.
Pan de Vida is guided by individuals deeply connected to the communities they serve. In Havana, Arturo and his wife Vanessa prepare and deliver meals to vulnerable neighbors, focusing on providing food that is both nourishing and sustaining in a time when many lack reliable access to even a single hot meal each day.
Originating in Santiago de Cuba and spreading beyond, this work has been led by Alien Rojas Canizares and his wife Susy through a network of small house churches. Now based in the UK, Alien continues to support and grow these efforts from afar, helping coordinate a program that began as an urgent local response and has expanded to reach hundreds across multiple locations. Together, their leadership reflects a shared commitment to care, presence, and community-driven support - meeting people where they are, day by day.
In times of uncertainty, what matters most is not scale, but presence. Pan de Vida reminds us that real change begins simply - with a meal, a visit, a moment of attention. Together, we work to ensure that no one is unseen.
How Support Flows
Through our partnership with Pan de Vida, donations are transformed into direct, tangible support - funding the sourcing of food and essential goods and enabling their immediate distribution to those who need them most.
