Rafael Perez Alonso

Rafael Pérez Alonso is a self-taught, multifaceted artist who has mastered many mediums. Pérez specializes in charcoal drawings, sculptures, and paintings, all of which reveal his distinctive approach to Cuban identity.  Instead of the more traditional use of bright colors, he utilizes different materials to complement his charcoal drawings, and often positions them within rustic wood, old maps, or other everyday items. This artist has participated in dozens of group exhibitions over the years. His works are in private collections in Austria, Canada, Chile, China, Columbia, Greece,  Mexico, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Grand Prix in El Salón de la Ciudad from the Centro Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, Havana and was a finalist in the Salon of Digital Art and the Distinction in Gitana Tropical, Havana.
